Washington is yet to experience another "theater of the absurd" as the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, chaired by Senator John Kerry (D-MA) prepares to hold hearings on Scotland's decision to release Abdel Baset al-Megrahi from a Scottish prison where he was serving a life sentence after being the sole person convicted of planting a bomb on board PanAm 103 in 1988, resulting in the crash of the plane over Lockerbie, Scotland.

Kerry's committee, under pressure from Israel's leading allies in the Senate, is trying to pressure Britain and Scotland to come clean on 2007 negotiations between Tony Blair's government and BP over which Megrahi's release from Scotland to Libya was discussed as a way to improve the oil giant's chances of landing lucrative oil deals with Colonel Qaddafi's government.

President Obama feigned anger on more than one occasion over Megrahi's release last August but a recent letter that surfaced from the U.S. embassy in London indicates that the Obama administration was quietly backing Megrahi's release with BP being the ultimate winner. The letter is further proof of BP's influence over the Obama administration, which was painfully obvious to the residents of the U.S. Gulf coast when Obama allowed BP to run the show in the wake of the Deepwater Horizon oil rig catastrophe.

Scottish First Minister Alex Salmond has charged that Blair was and continues to be involved in secret negotiations with Libya and BP on the consummation of oil deals. Salmond has told the Senate committee to call Blair to testify about the former prime minister's secret dealings with Colonel Qaddafi's government. The Scottish government denies having any contact with BP over Megrahi's release.

However, it appears that Obama had more than a passing interest in Megrahi's prison sentence in Scotland. On August 12, 2009, the deputy chief of mission at the U.S. embassy in London, Richard LeBaron, sent a letter to Salmond stating that while the U.S. was opposed to Megrahi's transfer to Libya, the United States would not be opposed to his conditional release on compassionate grounds to live in Scotland. LeBaron is a career Foreign Service officer who has mainly served in the Middle East, including a 2001 to 2004 stint as Deputy Chief of Mission at the U.S. embassy in Tel Aviv. In 1988, when PanAm 103 was bombed over Scotland, LeBaron served at the U.S. embassy in Tunis, a stone's throw from Malta, where Megrahi and his Libyan intelligence colleague were said to have arranged for a suitcase bomb destined for PanAm 103 to be placed on a feeder flight to Frankfurt and on to Heathrow in London for transfer to the ill-fated Boeing 747 heading for New York. LeBaron would have been privy to classified U.S. embassy cables from Valletta concerning the investigation of Libya's intelligence operations in Malta, including the alleged Libyan involvement in the PanAm bombing.

Megrahi was reported to have been suffering from terminal cancer when he was released but his condition has reportedly improved since he has been in Libya. The Obama administration contends that it favored a release of Megrahi in Scotland so that he would not receive a "hero's welcome" in his native Libya, which, of course, he did upon his return last August. But, as the late columnist Jack Anderson reported, Britain's Tory government and Obama have reasons to insist on pushing the discredited story that Qaddafi was involved in PanAm 103's bombing.

On January 11, 1990, Anderson reported from Washington that "President Bush and British Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher secretly agreed last spring to play down the truth about who blew up PanAm Flight 103 over Lockerbie, Scotland. After both leaders had intelligence reports pointing the finger at a terrorist hired by Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini, Thatcher called Bush. In that conversation, they agreed that neither could stand the political heat of making the evidence public because both were impotent to retaliate."

Anderson's column continued, "Highly placed White House sources told us that the phone call took place about mid-March. By that time, both the British and U.S. intelligence services had followed the trail of evidence to terrorist Ahmed Jibril as the hit man who was paid by Iran to blow up the plane. The intelligence services had evidence that Khomeini and Syrian CIA assets and partners in the Heroin trade... and his successor, Ali Akbar Rafsanjani, had approved the bombing."

It should be noted that Rafsanjani became a key backer of Mir-Hussein Mousavi, the failed presidential candidate who failed to unseat Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmedinejad last year. Ironically, Rafsanjani, a backer of the failed "Green Revolution," is now seen as a moderate by Washington and London. It is yet another reason to keep the Lockerbie heat on Libya.

Anderson's report stated, "The intelligence reports told Bush and Thatcher that Jibril and Syrian intelligence officers went to Iran in July 1988 and struck the deal with Khomeini and Rafsanjani to blow up an American plane in retaliation for the accidental U.S. downing of an Iranian airliner earlier that month. When the intelligence reports began to leak last March, Thatcher called Bush to discuss their problem. She said no purpose would be served by making public the evidence against Iran and Syria because neither the United States or Britain could respond." Thatcher's knowledge that it was Iran that brought down PanAm 103 would cause trouble for her Tory heir, Prime Minister David Cameron, who, in 1989, was a young Conservative Party operative serving Thatcher. For Obama, the knowledge that the CIA was cognizant of Iran's and Syria role in PanAm 103 could spell trouble as more details emerge about Obama's own past with the CIA.

According to Anderson, "Bush knew that Khomeini had proved the undoing of Jimmy Carter and had nearly proved the undoing of Ronald Reagan. Carter lost an election because he couldn't get American hostages back from Iran, and Reagan suffered the biggest blow of his presidency when he tried to trade arms to Iran for American hostages." However, it was Bush, himself, who helped arrange to keep American hostages in Iran until after the November 1980 election, in return for secret weapons, and who also helped arrange the weapons-for-hostages in Lebanon deals that ultimately ended up as the "Iran-contra" scandal. In 1990, Bush, who was known to have designs on Saddam Hussein's Iraq, had to ensure there were no fingers pointing at Iran, who Bush had to keep neutral in a U.S.-Iraqi military confrontation over Kuwait. Bush could not afford to alienate Syria, Jibril's main backer, since Bush needed Syria in the coalition that would later attack Iraq... and desperately needs Syria's military intelligence assassins who are the prime movers of the White House Murder INC, in the Levant for decades working closely with CIA/MOSSAD assassins in Lebanon and Syria...

Anderson continued, "So Bush didn't argue when Thatcher suggested that they 'low-key' the findings -- say that the investigation was inconclusive and long-term. After the call, word was quickly passed to top officials conducting the PanAm investigation that they were not to make any off-the-record remarks implicating Jibril or Iran. In Britain, when the press speculated about possible perpetrators, investigators called the speculation 'wild' and 'irresponsible.'

U.S. intelligence sources who told us about the call said the decision was political cowardice. Thatcher, the 'Iron Lady,' earned her reputation in a war with Argentina over the Falkland Islands. But by last March, her popularity was on the wane and she didn't need to be embarrassed by Khomeini. Bush, still fighting his 'wimp' image, didn't want to face the ultimate calls for retribution."

And Cameron, inheriting the Tory leadership, doesn't want Thatcher to be shown as a liar and Obama, who has bent over backwards trying to placate the intelligence community, doesn't want to have to admit that the American people were subjected to yet another fraud courtesy of the dirty/killers/assassins boys at Langley....

The CIA/DOD covert Wikileaks have brought the story of the kidnapping of Pakistani ISI agent Col. Imam to a head, and it is about to pop. The proof of the importance of this issue is found in the way that the story is being reported in the media. There is a strange consistency in all of the reports, regardless of where the story is surfacing in the “illegitimate MSM press.”

Every news site reports quotes this sentence, “[I] will reveal all the weaknesses of our nation,” as though it reflected the real meaning of Col. Imam’s message. Coincidentally (?), every report omits Imam’s next sentence naming the weaknesses that he threatens to reveal....:

Michael Hayden said the clandestine agency is using Predator missile attacks to “tickle” enemy groups, to provoke a reaction.

The agency director was jokingly referring to the policy of committing multiple mass-murders of innocent citizens of Pakistan, as a tactic for provoking retaliation by their relatives. This immoral terrorist act is considered to be a legitimate military strategy by the demented CIA mind. It sees no wrong in committing criminal acts, to cause others to commit further criminal acts, as a rationale for starting a divisive world war for resources, under the guise of “self-defense.” The idea that committing acts of war, to cause a greater war is not a war crime itself, is a product of a deranged psychopathic mind. The American use of the Israeli terror tactic of “targeted assassinations” to perhaps kill one “wanted” individual (remember no “war” has been declared there), without concern for the attendant civilian death is a war crime. The use of flying terror platforms to fire Hellfire missiles into crowds of innocent people, in a country that you call your “ally” is either pure idiocy or evil of the highest order. The choice to fight a ground war from the air reaps little military gain at the enormous cost of widespread civilian death.

Agency Director Hayden said that the CIA is “working closely with the military…where American troops have fought Sunni insurgents.” If the agency was really working with our own military or with military leaders in allied nations then the war might not be at an impasse. In all war theaters the secret war has served to escalate the real war that our troops must fight, for political reasons. The question is, is the CIA a “rogue” agency creating problems for our own military, or is it doing so on White House orders?

Did the agency bother to consult with our allies the Pakistani Army on June 12, when it sent a Predator to kill 11 Pakistani soldiers at Gora Pai Outpost in the Mohmand region?

Hayden said, “Our pilots are targeting not structures, but individuals.”

But clearly, after watching the video of the Predator attack, who could believe that it is possible to identify who is being targeted on the ground by these terminator-planes?

Did the CIA bother to consult U.S. Joint Chiefs of Staff, Adm. Mike Mullen on the September 18 Predator strike that killed six and wounded three, a mere hours after he personally reassured Pakistan’s prime minister of “cooperation and coordination” on security issues?

Pakistani Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi, who was one of those officials who met with Mullen, told reporters that Pakistani officials “were not informed” of the strike beforehand. Asked about Mullen’s statement, he said,

“It’s a clear, clear commitment to Pakistan to respect Pakistan’s sovereignty…and now if having said that there was an attack later in the night, that means there is some sort of an institutional disconnect on their side, and if so, they will have to sort it out,” he said.

Here we have evidence from a foreign perspective of the massive disconnect within the government of the United States, in this case, between the Pentagon and the CIA, over the spy agency’s running its own separate foreign policy in the war on terror. It is seen coming to a head over the covert military policy of the US spy bureau verses the legitimate policies of the actual military. This policy extends deep within the establishment reflecting the vast moral differences between most of our government and the super-secret spy bureau that flies our flag.

The brutal immoral CIA policies of terrorizing (sorry, I meant “tickling”) civilians to create panic and hopefully generate specific controlled reactions is not only the cause of the terror war, but it is the reason that the military cannot achieve anything approaching victory on either of the two other fronts. In Pakistan, as in all the world’s frontline states, the secret US policy actually creates terrorist groups to administer the “tickling” on behalf of the agency to the targeted people. This, in turn, make the local fight against insurgencies unwinnable, by any acceptable standards.

In Pakistan, the “local Taliban” (under the command of “public enemy number one,” Baitullah Mehsud), which US forces are allegedly targeting, are known among the local population as tools of the US, Indian, Afghan and Israeli secret services. Mehsud’s apparent immunity from American retaliation, his detailed knowledge of Pakistani troop movements and his highly-advanced communications equipment and weaponry is cited as proof of foreign sponsorship. In other words, the CIA is creating the justification (bombings in Pakistan and cross-border attacks from there into Afghanistan by CIA proxy fighters) that is providing a sort of legitimacy for military actions.

In Iraq, the same pattern of covert “tickling” was carried-out by shadowy US-connected terror groups, who drove the inter-religious civil war that successfully partitioned most of the country. The harsh attacks carried-out upon fellow Sunnis by these “al Qaida linked” groups pushed the Iraqis into fighting against themselves. The same thing was attempted in Lebanon with Sunni terrorist groups like Fatah al-Islam. In the Palestinian Territories the Security Forces carried-out the same function against the legitimate Hamas government forces. Before that, US-backed Muslim terrorists were brought into Yugoslavia who attacked (“tickled”) local Muslims to agitate for international intervention.

Before the demise of the Soviet Union and the creation of the new “Islamic threat” by the CIA, covert “tickling” operations were carried-out by our mercenary forces of right-wing extremist white guys in Europe, like Operation Gladio in Italy. The secret CIA armies there tickled our unfortunate European allies into electing hard-right political parties which supported American aggression.

Throughout all the previous examples, the CIA has followed the same “shock doctrine” of applying terror bombings to targeted populations in order to stimulate planned responses. This form of mind warfare has been developed by government psychologists and behavioralists studying the phenomenon since the fire-bombings of WWII were used to manipulate the German population. The link between political terrorism and democratic reactions was discovered when intensive fire-bombing pushed frightened enraged German citizens to demand government concessions to appease Allied bombers. The science of the “shock doctrine” was developed from these studies, over time, by government scientists, who refined it down to its essence, learning to use smaller shocks to achieve the same reactions.

This same policy of psychological warfare became the principle tool of the CIA, where it was used over many decades upon both friend and foe of the United States, even upon the American people themselves. Provocative “ticklings” of various types were administered to the American people to control social pressures, from the assassinations of our leaders, to the shocks of the destruction of our free press and our national economy. The American people were systematically shocked and demoralized, as we were driven like the cattle that they think we are down the road to the slaughterhouse.

On September 11, 2001, the wholesale slaughter of Americans began. American-allied intelligence agencies, worked in unison to administer the most severe “tickling” of all time, to a peaceful people who were normally slow to rouse to war, in order to start the stampede. Today, the CIA’s own war has been sabotaged by the very tactics it has chosen to employ, to the point where our voluntary military force is decimated and our national economy is following suit. The government psychiatrists and schemers overlooked their primary obstacle, they never figured on the depth of the human spirit to resist the great obscenity being cast upon us. Anyone who is given the ability to see automatically begins to fight back.

The CIA war against the people of the world and especially against the American people is one of the greatest tragedies and crimes of our time. Their hostile actions have brought the world to the edge of the cataclysm we now face. Whatever their ulterior reasons are for destroying the country that they have sworn allegiance to, they cannot be allowed to succeed in their terrorist plans. This is the government that must be overthrown, the secret government of the United States.

The CIA must be abolished. Our remaining moral leaders must step forward to de-fund the agency. Our military leaders must follow former Joint Chief Peter Pace’s example and refuse to carry-out immoral acts. The terminator planes being used by the CIA must be grounded. The proxy forces that they have created to “Balkanize” Pakistan just as they have done in Iraq must by stopped. Give the government there the help it needs by supporting the decisions it makes without attacking them for it.

Pakistan is not our enemy, but the CIA/MOSSAD/MI6/DGSE most definitely are.....

BP will start deep-water drilling off the coast of Libya within weeks, a company spokesman said on Saturday, DPAreporetd.

“Drilling will begin in the next few weeks,” spokesman David Nicholas told the German Press Agency dpa, confirming a report in the Final Times.

The move comes despite concerns about BP’s safety and environmental record, following the massive oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico after and oil rig that had been drilling a well for BP exploded in April.

BP purchased the rights to explore for oil in Libya’s Gulf of Sirte three years ago.

US authorities accuse BP of lobbying for the release of the Lockerbie bomber so it could begin drilling off Libya.

The bomber, Abdel Basset al-Megrahi, was set free last year from a prison in Scotland and returned to his native Libya.

Kassar is married to a sister of Ali Issa Dubah, a former chief of Syrian intelligence, and a close associate of Rifat Assad, the brother of Syria's former President Hafez Assad.

Kassar is said to be a very major arms and drugs smuggler.

In 1992, al-Kassar made arms sales in the millions of dollars to Croatia, Bosnia and Somalia, violating United Nations arms embargoes to all three countries.

In 1992, the Spanish government arrested Kassar for his alleged involvement in the Achille Lauro hijacking. In 1995, and he was found not guilty on all charges.

In July 2006, the government of Iraq placed Kassar at number 26 on their "most wanted" list, calling him one of the main suppliers for the Iraqi insurgents.

On 8 June 2007, the DEA (US Drug Enforcement Administration) announced the arrest in Spain of Monzer al Kassar. This was said to be linked to arms sales to rebels in Colombia.

Kassar was arrested just days before the Libyan convicted of the Lockerbie bombing was granted a second extraordinary appeal and 'just days after Blair went to Tripoli to negotiate a deal that would save him the embarrassment of a fresh appeal.' ('Confession of an Iranian Terror Czar')

The fellow w/ moustache in the front right is William Houston Seymour, an Oswald look-alike; next to him, hiding his face, is Frank Sturgis, one of the hobos caught in a train yard not far from the Grassy Knoll, and one of the Watergate burglars.
The man in the front left "is Felix Rodriguez, one of the CIA's most vicious assassins, whose long list of murders includes that of Che Guevara in Bolivia..." As you say, next to him is the former CIA chief Porter Goss, w/ drug pilot Barry Seal to his left. I'm clueless as to the others at the table.

Snopes.com, officially known as the Urban Legends Reference Pages, has since its humble inception in 1995 come to be regarded as one of the most trusted debunkers of conspiracy theories on the internet. Described by one of its many fans -- it apparently has over 6 million visitors per month -- as “the granddaddy of all fact-checking sites,” Snopes is downright cavalier, however, in its attitude to facts surrounding Israel’s role in the 9/11 attacks....an inside job wall to wall

In its large section on urban legends relating to 9/11, Snopes purports to debunk a claim that “four thousand Israelis employed by companies housed in the World Trade Center stayed home from work on September 11, warned in advance of the impending attack on the World Trade Center.” A click on the link under “Israelis” brings the curious reader to an entry titled “Absent without Leave,” in which the “four thousand Israelis” have suddenly and inexplicably been replaced by “four thousand Jews.”

In “Absent without Leave,” Snopes reproduces a September 17, 2001, report by Lebanon’s al-Manar satellite television station, which claimed that the Israelis (not “Jews”) “remained absent that day based on hints from the Israeli General Security apparatus, the Shabak.” The Al-Manar piece cited also refers to the five Israelis arrested hours after the attacks, after having been witnessed filming and celebrating as the Twin Towers collapsed.

Below the al-Manar article, Snopes has appended a shoddily written, anonymous, unsourced Internet piece, in which the 4,000 Israelis have again been mysteriously transformed into 4,000 Jews. In contrast to the al-Manar report, this diatribe includes such absurd and provocative anti-Semitic statements as “the Jews knew and were prewarned” about 9/11.....an inside job wall to wall

Snopes makes no distinction between the two pieces, however, lumping them together as examples of what it calls the “plenty of anti-Semitic, anti-Zionist, and anti-Israeli groups eager to use the horrors of September 11 as fodder for propaganda to serve their own political ends.” Considering its tendentious conflation of legitimate criticism of Israel -- and the exclusivist ideology on which it is based -- with an irrational hatred of Jews, one doubts whether Snopes would level the same accusation against Benjamin Netanyahu and Ariel Sharon.

Asked on the night of September 11 what the attack meant for relations between the United States and Israel, Netanyahu replied, “It’s very good.” Then he quickly edited himself: “Well, not very good, but it will generate immediate sympathy.” Later that night in an appearance on Israeli TV, the then Israeli prime minister, Sharon, indicated how Tel Aviv intended to exploit that “sympathy,” when he “repeatedly placed Israel on the same ground as the United States, calling the assault an attack on ‘our common values’ and declaring, ‘I believe together we can defeat these forces of evil... i.e. CIA/MOSSAD/MI6/DGSE.’”

Instead of attempting to debunk the well-documented claims that at least some Israelis were forewarned about the 9/11 attacks, Snopes peremptorily dismisses them, claiming they “scarcely merit the dignity of a rebuttal.” Yet, Haaretz reported that two employees of Odigo, the Israeli-owned instant messaging service, “received messages two hours before the Twin Towers attack on September 11 predicting the attack would happen.” Asked whether Israeli agents had advanced knowledge of the 9/11 attacks, Fox News reporter Carl Cameron quoted U.S. investigators who concluded, “How could they not have known?” And then there were those “dancing Israelis” who later claimed on an Israeli talk show that their “purpose was to document the event.”

Disregarding evidence of Israeli foreknowledge, Snopes asserts that “no miracles, human intervention, foreknowledge, coincidence, or vagaries of fate saved more than a few World Trade Center workers from meeting their deaths that day.”

One of the lucky few (not mentioned by Snopes) was Larry Silverstein, who signed a 99-year lease on the World Trade Center six weeks before 9/11, insuring it for $3.5 billion. Silverstein’s wife’s insistence that he couldn’t cancel an appointment with his dermatologist that morning ensured that he missed his daily breakfast meeting with tenants at the Windows on the World restaurant on the top floors of the North Tower of the World Trade Center. His son and daughter, who worked with him in the Twin Towers, were also fortunate to be “running late” on September 11. Silverstein’s good fortune no doubt delighted his close friends in Israel. Soon after the attacks, the property developer received phone calls from no less than three Israeli prime ministers -- Ehud Barak, Benjamin Netanyahu and Ariel Sharon -- inquiring how he was.

Seemingly puzzled by suspicions that Israelis had advance warning of the World Trade Center attack, Snopes asks rhetorically: “Why would Israel follow such a course of action, betray its staunchest ally, and doom thousands of innocent Americans to death?”

One could also ask why Israeli agents planted firebombs in American installations in Egypt in 1954? Or why Israel murdered 34 U.S. servicemen in a deliberate attack on the USS Liberty on June 8, 1967? Or why Mossad decided not to warn the United States about the October 23, 1983, attack on its Marine barracks in Beirut which killed 241 troops? Or why Mossad’s Operation Trojan led Washington to believe that Libya was responsible for the April 5, 1986, Berlin disco bombing which killed two American soldiers?

To date, Snopes has yet to investigate any of these acts of betrayal by Israel of “its staunchest ally.”

WASHINGTON - Most of the United States is still suffering through the final stages of a cataclysmic economic decline, but not so my home town of Alexandria, Virginia, nestled along the banks of the Potomac River, a silver dollar's toss away from the white marble statues of our founding fathers.

Recession - what recession? The military intelligence complex is thriving like never before as has been well described through the dog-days of July in the dark pages of the White House Murder INC, on the Potomac, CIA/MOSSAD, Syria and Asef SHAWKAT....since January 24th 2002 in Lebanon.....

A series of investigative reports in the Post have exposed the bloated beast of United States intelligence as is rarely done in the home of "Beltway bandits" and revolving door contracts.

It was the former US speaker of the House, Tip O'Neil, who said that "all politics is local". You would think that - a decade into this "war on terror" - that the US would have learned by now that all war and peace are also local. Al-Qaeda and other global jihadis are tapping into a broad audience of 1.2 billion Muslims, always looking to turn a few more in their favor.

Meanwhile, Washington concentrates its dollars on feeding a voracious beast with no brains.

There is an essential disconnect at work: Islamic perceptions are not understood to be "hard intelligence". The US is still trying to fit a square peg into a round hole - or to apply conventional intelligence to an asymmetrical world.

So the beat goes on. This city relies on its big brains and intelligence re-spun from high-tech devices and analyzed, sliced and diced by "experts" in blue suits and pink ties. The mountain of dubious intelligence that this behemoth produces in one day buries the good work of even the best and brightest Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) linguists secretly ensconced in foreign cultures abroad.

Apart from its lack of focus, there are other troubles with the convoluted system. The Post points out that it includes "too many people obligated to shareholders rather than the public interest". The paper calculated that 854,000 persons are keepers of "top-secret" clearances and that 265,000 of these are contractors.

If there is a single profession that requires dedication and loyalty above all others, it is the work of intelligence gathering. But it has been outsourced.

In Washington, Maryland and Virginia, "loyalty" is bought in cash or in kind. As the Post also points out, "Because competition among firms for people with security clearances is so great, corporations offer such perks as BMWs and $15,000 signing bonuses."

An existing "TS" or "top secret" security clearance can bring a $50,000 bonus to a so-called "body shop" that provides the US government with a flesh and blood human who has passed the test. (Of course, it was Uncle Sam who paid for the clearance in the first place.)

Washington's intelligence-gatherers do important work. They spy on the bad guys and think of better ways to kill them. They also advise America's top brass and plan for futuristic wars in different galaxies.

In many cases, these intelligence-gatherers will have come from the same offices a year earlier and will then work at double the pay to sport a fresh blue suit rather than a grungy green one.

Even as the Post's investigative stories get digested over fillet mignon and washed down with sparkling water and French Champagne this summer, there are the standard calls to kill the bottomless gusher of money spewing forth across the land.

But the Washington establishment can rest assured that any effort to put the bloated intelligence genie back in the bottle won't ever come to much - at least not in anyone's lifetime.

Ever since George Washington warned that, "Over-grown military establishments are under any form of government inauspicious to liberty," vows to curtail military excess have gone largely unheeded in the city of his namesake. (Certainly, it won't be former vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin's "tea party" that changes the course of recent history.)

One source studying al-Qaeda's leadership explained to the Post how a new Washington intelligence "study" gets started.

She said, "It's about how many studies you can orchestrate, how many people you can fly all over the place. Everybody's just on a spending spree. We don't need all these people doing all this stuff."

Of course not! But if Washington stopped paying these "experts" to defend America, maybe it would have to deploy an army of gumshoe detectives across the globe to discover how to better defend the woeful public. The "intelligence" that they returned with might mean that Washington would have to suffer through the economic hard times along with everyone else in the nation.

And while American's defense requires peace - to achieve that peace the US actually would need to persuade Muslims the world over that it has their best interests in mind.

That is, unfortunately, largely a matter of foreign policy, not "intelligence". While travelling in the Islamic realm for my book, My Brother, My Enemy, the key issues that tend to radicalize young Muslims to take up arms against my own country became rather obvious.

These views spring from a series of key questions that linger like the smoke in a cafe full of Egyptian hookahs (water pipes): Why are American troops fighting in Iraq and Afghanistan? Why is there no peace deal in Israel and Palestine? Does President Barack Obama really want to use his brains and muscle (spelled "leverage") to stamp out a lasting two-state peace deal? And why in the world is Osama bin Laden still running around the mountains of Pakistan?

These questions burn for answers, but young Muslims do not have them. In fact, they don't even have many clues. As long as they remain open quandaries, al-Qaeda will fill the air with conspiracy theories. Its goal is to convince as many new recruits as possible that the US would like nothing better than to permanently "occupy" the Islamic world with its own troops and with its "proxies".

At this stage, some readers will blame Muslims for being suckers for conspiracy theories. It is worth remembering, however, that here in the United States there are at least as many bizarre theories about how the World Trade Center crashed to the ground in September 2001 and why Bin Laden is still at large as there are across the Islamic world.

In any case, let us consider the logic of how a young Muslim male or female might conclude from the facts on the ground that America is out to get them. The two "occupations" that concern them the most are America's in South Asia and Israel's in the West Bank.

These occupations were motivated by apparently unrelated events that unfolded at different times in history.

Seen through the rose-tinted lenses of Washington, these are not occupations at all. We still think that president Woodrow Wilson set the course of modern American foreign policy by opposing - at least in words - colonial designs. And unless anything has changed - which it clearly has not - Washington still stands for freedom, democracy and an end to all oppression.

To his credit, Obama is trying to pick up where his predecessor George W Bush dropped the ball. He has expressed abhorrence for pre-emptive war. He also wants to finish the job in Afghanistan - clean out the rat's nest as it were - and pressure Israel - at least a little bit - to end its occupation of the West Bank.

To this end, an army of "intelligence" experts is backing General David Petraeus as he pushes ahead with a counter-insurgency strategy that includes the implicit promise not to occupy Afghanistan. (Ironically, good counter-insurgency requires far less "American intelligence" and far more "Afghan intelligence" in the form of tip-offs from villagers and locals.)

It should not be hard to understand, however, that the Afghan population, which is the key to success, remains skeptical of American intentions. The war on their own soil is now the longest in America's history. This is thanks in good part to the "intelligence" errors that led to a bungled invasion of Mesopotamia.

Yet it is the other key occupation in the Islamic world that forever mires America's effort to be seen for what most of its citizen's would rather be: a peacemaker and an advocate of democracy.

Since 1967, there has been talk about ending Israel's occupation in the West Bank. Yet few Muslims I spoke to in my travels believe anymore that a peace deal is likely or even possible. They don't need to read or listen to Jewish author Akiva Eldar's excellent explanation in Lords of the Land about the Israel Defense Forces' intimate ties with the Israeli settlement movement to be convinced of this.....

They already have their own sources of information. Unfortunately, these include radical Hamas leader Khaled Meshal, who told me in an interview for my book that "without resisting the occupiers, the occupation, the occupier himself will never be convinced that he has to leave".

While Washington has convinced itself that it is facing an "offensive" jihad from across the Islamic world, that same "jihad" is usually viewed as a defensive one by the young Muslims susceptible to Hamas' manipulations. There is an even worse bit of loose intelligence just hanging out there waiting to be seized upon, however.

Israel's "occupation" in the Holy Land is conflated in the minds of Muslims with the idea of American military "occupation" in South Asia and beyond. Al-Qaeda's propaganda geniuses - as opposed to "intelligence experts" - have crafted their own stealthy recruitment campaigns to incorporate these views. Their simple and direct message: "America and Israel want you under their boot."

A handful of leaders at the Pentagon and within Obama's national-security apparatus already know this. Petraeus testified before the US Senate in March after his Central Command submitted a detailed 56-page "Posture Statement", that said, "The [Israeli-Palestinian] conflict foments anti-American sentiment, due to a perception of US favoritism for Israel." The statement further added, "Meanwhile, al-CIAda and other CIA/MOSSAD puppet militant groups exploit that anger to mobilize support."

It is hard to argue with perceptions, though, particularly when you are so busy lavishing billions on brain power inside the Beltway. As sure as George Washington never tossed a silver dollar across the Potomac, that won't change anytime soon.

Garcia has been linked to Mossad operations in Houston.....

Wilfrido Willie Mata was the IT director for the Harris County, Texas Sheriff's Office until this past May. Mata was fired after he contacted the FBI about Harris County Sheriff Adrian Garcia ordering him to do nothing as an outside hacker penetrated three Sheriff's Department's computer system. Garcia then ordered the IT official not to report the operation to anyone else in the county government. Mata has filed a lawsuit against Garcia for violation of the Whistleblowers Act and wrongful termination.

Garcia also ordered Mata not to conduct a required security audit of the department's computer system in October 2009, which resulted in an investigation by the Harris County District Attorney's Office, which later determined no crime was committed.

After being ordered to take no action as the outside hacker penetrated the Sheriff's Department computer system, Mata went to the FBI, which asked him to wear a wire. In October 2009, Mata informed the Sheriff's Department of his cooperation with the FBI. Mata was then fired.

The involvement of the FBI in the case may indicate a foreign intelligence angle to the outside hacking of the Sheriff's Department's computer system. WMR has previously reported on Garcia's contacts with a certain foreign government, contacts that were viewed suspiciously by Roland "Tony" Carnaby, the former CIA operative and President of the Houston chapter of the Association of Former Intelligence Officers (AFIO) who was gunned down in April 2008 by two Houston police officers on a busy street after a high-speed chase.

On May 23, 2008, WMR reported: "If anyone knew more about Israel's penetration of the top echelons of Houston's city government and police force it was the one-time CIA station chief in Houston, Roland Carnaby, gunned down on April 29 by the very same police department he counted as among his friends.

WMR has learned that Adrian Garcia, a former Houston police officer, former chief of the Mayor's Anti-Gang Task Force, and current chairman of the Public Safety and Homeland Security Committee as City Councilman, paid a trip to Israel during the last few months, a trip paid for by the city of Houston and known to Houston Mayor Bill White. Garcia is currently running for Sheriff of Harris County. The trip to Israel raised a few eyebrows in Houston but Garcia claimed it was necessary and requested by the city. Garcia is a past "consultant" for the US State Department on "policing programs" in Central America. Garcia's trip to Israel is not the only one funded by the city for Houston law enforcement officials.

Carnaby was a frequent visitor to George Bush International Airport, where he often introduced Israeli security vendors and consultants to airport security officials, and NASA's Johnson Space Center."

On July 28, 2008, WMR reported: "Carnaby experienced an unusual incident the night before his death at a Houston restaurant, The Capitol Grille. A man, who appeared drunk carrying an open 'to go' order bag, approached Carnaby and asked him to look inside. Carnaby responded by stating he did not know the man, while, at the same time, reaching for his concealed pistol. The man apologized and quickly left the restaurant and got into a vehicle with diplomatic plates traced to Israel's Consulate General in Houston.

Houston is a center of intrigue for Israeli intelligence activity. Carnaby's associates voiced surprise that Adrian Garcia, current Houston city councilman and candidate for Harris County Sheriff, spent two weeks in Israel earlier this year, paid for by the city of Houston, for totally unknown reasons. Garcia was an acquaintance of Carnaby's, socially and professionally."

On November 24, 2009, WMR ran an additional story about Garcia: "Israel's search for replacement enriched plutonium hit pay-dirt when its intelligence service discovered that the Pantex nuclear facility near Amarillo, Texas, stores enriched plutonium fuel that is 99 percent pure plutonium that does not require reprocessing for another 60 to 90 years. However, the Department of Energy has plans to store much of the nuclear fuel now at Pantex at the very secure Yucca Mountain storage complex within the Nevada Test Site. WMR previously reported that Mossad agents are extremely active at military and nuclear sites in Nevada, including the Nevada Test Site. However, Israeli scientists may have already penetrated the security at the Nevada Test Site through a joint operation with the United States. WMR has learned that U.S. and Israeli scientists are co-testing newer electromagnetic core/pit compression techniques that does not use conventional explosives as the weapon detonator. Instead, the fuel is magnetically compressed. The technique overcomes the plutonium aging issue while allowing for the development of micro-nuclear weaponry.For example, 650 grams of force per square centimeter is all that is required to compress a plutonium core into a critical state. 750 grams is the minimum amount of plutonium that is needed in order to produce a nuclear explosion. One kilogram of plutonium produces an explosive yield equal to one kiloton of TNT.

The Israelis discovered that only U.S. nuclear cores composed of plutonium alloys were ripe for theft at Pantex. The 99 percent plutonium fuel was more well-guarded. Because the older plutonium cores required refrigeration to keep them cooler than 150 degrees, the Israelis used refrigeration trucks to move the cores through the port of Houston and into refrigeration containers loaded on board ships belonging to Zim-American Israeli Shipping Company, a firm with close links to the Mossad. From Houston, the plutonium alloy cores were shipped to Israel and Dimona.

One individual who had the port of Houston under close scrutiny was CIA contractor/informant/source Roland 'Tony' Carnaby. Carnaby had set up a number of video surveillance cameras at the port of Houston and routinely uploaded the stored videos from the camera units to his Macintosh computer. In April 2008, Carnaby was shot to death by two Houston police officers after what was reported to have been a high-speed chase by police. After he was killed, the Houston police took possession of Carnaby's Macintosh computer. WMR previously reported that Carnaby kept Israeli intelligence assets and agents under close scrutiny in Houston and that he had a strange encounter with an Israeli Consulate General official the evening before he was shot. WMR also previously reported on Mossad's penetration of the Houston Police Department and the Harris County Sheriff's Office. Harris County Sheriff Adrian Garcia has visited Israel and is considered close to the Israeli intelligence operation in Houston. Garcia's overall agenda was also never trusted by Carnaby, according to our sources in Houston. Conveniently, security for the port of Houston comes under Harris County and Garcia. Radiation detectors routinely scan containers at Houston for the presence of nuclear materials, hence, it is important for the Mossad to counteract security at the port.

On August 13, 2008, WMR reported: 'WMR previously reported that slain retired CIA station chief in Houston, Roland 'Tony' Carnaby, gunned down gangland-style on April 29 by Houston police after his vehicle ran out of gas, not after a 'high-speed chase' as alleged by Houston police, had a tepid and wary relationship with Israeli intelligence operatives in Houston. Carnaby was contracted to the Port of Houston, as well as the two Houston area international airports, to provide security consultative services. An Israeli firm, Orsus, is currently installing an integrated security monitoring system that will link video surveillance, visitor control, and police dispatch systems to a 24-hour Port Coordination Center. It is known that Carnaby used a number of cell phones to dial into port video cameras to turn them on, stop them, and download captured video data. The Israeli firm was scheduled to begin installation of its system this month.The financial backers of Orsus include ComSor Venture Fund LDC, a joint operation of Comverse Technology, which includes its subsidiary Verint Systems, and Soros Fund Management's Quantum Industrial Holdings Ltd. Other investors in Orsus include Israel's Koor Industries, the leading shareholder of Tadiran, the Israeli defense electronics firm; Cial Industries and Investment, an Israeli holding company; the Cedar Fund, an 'Israeli-related' venture capital firm; Israel Infinity Venture Capital Fund; and Poalim Capital Markets, a subsidiary of Bank Hapoalim, Israel's largest bank.'

Carnaby was, reportedly, working with the FBI on the Israeli nuclear smuggling issue and the FBI office in Houston requested that the Houston police call off their chase of Carnaby. WMR has also learned that one of the Israeli agents involved in the Pantex smuggling is the agent known as "Stinky" by FBI surveillance teams. He is called "Stinky" because of his obeseness and sloppy eating habits. "Stinky" was linked to the clubbing death of CIA missile expert William Bennett in Landsdowne, Virginia, near Leesburg, in March of this year and the assassination of weapons developer Gerald Bull in 1990 in Brussels. Bennett had uncovered evidence that Israel had shared with or sold to China and Russia classified U.S. Patriot missile and stealth technology.

Hellerstein ruling provides cover for U.S. intelligence illegal covert operations and extrajudicial assassinations on US soil and worldwide...

U.S. District Judge Alvin Hellerstein's July 15th 2010 decision to deny the American Civil Liberties Union's request to compel the government to release details of the CIA's "enhanced interrogation" methods on 9/11 detainees provides the legal cover for the CIA and other U.S. intelligence agencies to hide their illegal covert methods used abroad and domestically. Hellerstein, who has been one of the most activist judges in denying requests for a full disclosure of government intelligence involving the inside job of 9/11 attacks, wrote in his decision, "Courts are not invested with the competence to second-guess the CIA director regarding the appropriateness of any particular intelligence source or method."

In 2008, Hellerstein tossed out a law suit filed by 9/11 victims' families asking for the debris at the Fresh Kills, Staten Island waste dump to be sifted for the remains of their loved ones so they could receive a proper burial. Hellerstein was obviously worried about what other evidence might be sifted from the debris piles, evidence that would point to more than airplanes bringing down the World Trade Center. In 2009, Hellerstein, again, ruled to cover-up the inside job of 9/11 by dismissing a lawsuit against New York City's Office of Emergency Management for negligence in helping cause the collapse of Building 7 of World Trade Center by permitting diesel fuel to be stored on the roof.

Hellerstein has now given a green light to U.S. intelligence agencies for continued protection from law suits and other sanctions under the guise of national security and the utterly corrupt Deep State in USA and CIA/MOSSAD White House Murder INC,.....

Obama and his four predecessors have continued to violate Executive Order after Executive Order in permitting U.S. intelligence operatives to blatantly engage in assassinations in the US, Lebanon and beyond, coups, and kidnappings. Hellerstein has provided judicial cover for these continued activities by ruling that intelligence sources and methods are more important that U.S. law or prior presidential orders.

Examples abound of such illegal U.S. covert operations, assassinations of the infamous White House Murder INC, conducted during the Clinton administration which launched the assassination of Mr. Elie HOBEIKA in 1999....(these operations will now become more commonplace)

Amid the constant fracas of daily political life, it is often hard to see the big picture of power in America (and, for that matter, the world.) In researching my book, Family of Secrets, I came to a fresh appreciation of this big picture, assembling a vast amount of new evidence of the extent to which the visible democratic process has historically been covertly shaped by powerful interests, and how this shaping has gone largely unnoticed and unremarked-upon, right to the present.

My work has been praised by some and attacked by others, but since its publication, new evidence keeps emerging, in bits and pieces, that the public, its elected representatives (and often even presidents too) are being constantly manipulated to support outcomes favorable to wealthy elites.

The latest comes in the New York Times. In an article headlined “Records Show Doubts on ’64 Vietnam Crisis,” Elisabeth Bumiller reports on newly released documents that confirm this.

In an echo of the debates over the discredited intelligence that helped make the case for the war in Iraq, the Senate Foreign Relations Committee on Wednesday released more than 1,100 pages of previously classified Vietnam-era transcripts that show senators of the time sharply questioning whether they had been deceived by the White House and the Pentagon over the 1964 Gulf of Tonkin incident.

. . .”If this country has been misled, if this committee, this Congress, has been misled by pretext into a war in which thousands of young men have died, and many more thousands have been crippled for life, and out of which their country has lost prestige, moral position in the world, the consequences are very great,” Senator Albert Gore Sr. of Tennessee, the father of the future vice president, said in March 1968 in a closed session of the Foreign Relations Committee.

. . . President Lyndon B. Johnson cited the [Tonkin Gulf] attacks to persuade Congress to authorize broad military action in Vietnam, but historians in recent years have concluded that the Aug. 4 attack never happened. . . .

[T]he transcripts show the outrage the senators were expressing behind closed doors. “In a democracy you cannot expect the people, whose sons are being killed and who will be killed, to exercise their judgment if the truth is concealed from them,” Senator Frank Church, Democrat of Idaho, said in an executive session in February 1968.

. . . At another point, the committee’s chairman, Senator William Fulbright, Democrat of Arkansas, raised concerns that if the senators did not take a stand on the war, “We are just a useless appendix on the governmental structure.”

. . . . In the end, however, the senators did not further pursue their doubts. As Mr. Church said in one session that was focused on the staff report into the episode, if the committee came up with proof that an attack never occurred, “we have a case that will discredit the military in the United States, and discredit and quite possibly destroy the president.”

He added that unless the committee had the evidence to substantiate the charges, “The big forces in this country that have most of the influence and run most of the newspapers and are oriented toward the presidency will lose no opportunity to thoroughly discredit this committee.” [Italics added for emphasis]

Now, having read this, consider what happens when one tries to show how this is an ongoing problem - that those “big forces” Senator Church warned against have been doing much more than creating a false justification for a huge escalation in Vietnam. When I showed the pervasive role of these interests in shaping the American presidency, over decades, people began coming after me. A Los Angeles Times reporter angrily accused me of “paranoia,” and an outside reviewer selected by the Washington Post tried to minimize my work by suggesting that I was “overreaching.” Overreaching? I’d like to know what Albert Gore Sr., William Fulbright and Frank Church would say if they were alive today, about the long-term evidence of constant falsification of events-including, of course the case for invading Iraq, but also the scores of other false stories I lay out for the first time in the book.

Also, consider what the New York Times does not say in this article, and cannot quite bring itself to talk about: That when the military and the president mislead the people, they don’t do it always just on their own. They, too, have other masters to serve. What goes unsaid is about the basic nature of power in America-and ultimately, it leads not to government, with all its strengths and weaknesses, but to the “private sector,” where those “big forces” Frank Church cited can be found. That’s where we need to be looking, but so rarely do.
