The Utterly corrupt and Dysfunctional Arab League should be disbanded

The Utterly corrupt and Dysfunctional Arab League should be disbanded immediately...

http://www.elnashra.com/articles-1-26485.html

I believe that the Arab League increased its budget by $61 million during its last meeting at Sirte/Libya last year... This means that the Arab league has an annual budget of around 3/4 of a billion US dollars.

I hereby humbly suggest that we dissolve the Arab League that has never disappointed in failing the masses and their aspirations. This league has been nothing short of an instrument of oppression, and a platform for dictators to speak to the world. These funds will be so much more effective if they were to be allocated to alleviate poverty , illiteracy and disease among the Arab masses.

In my view the Arab league has never accomplished anything meaningful but in light of its disastrous performance to stop the massacres in Libya and the daily use of force against peaceful demonstrators in Bahrain the League has lost all credibility.

What does anyone make of its latest position in Libya. After 42 bloody days of bombing, strafing and killing the protesters by the Qaddafi forces the Arab League decided to give a green light to the UN to establish a no fly zone but not to have any foreign interference. Can anyone explain this position? Of course not....

The US has already missed the boat on redeeming itself with the Arab Peoples.... and on many of these revolutions and is simply playing catch-up (Clinton and Gates before her....in the ME right now). The reality is their timidity or Israeli complicity to keep Gaddafi in power....on Libya stems from the fact that they really do not know what to do: “Gaddafi is a son-of-a-b*tch but we know him and he is cooperating fully since the 1970s...., who will come in his place if we help take him out?” That kind of despicable thinking.... Right now they are simply following the Europeans on this one and trying to salvage some credibility that is utterly non-existent....

Everyone is counting out the butchering clown Qaddafi way too early though.... No one really knows what the end game is, and I don’t think that Western powers are so quick to get rid of Qaddafi and simply hand Libya to an unknown entity yet called the “rebels,” the humanitarian issue notwithstanding. The Arab League’s blessings in this regard is also more of a hint that they were brought in spite of themselves. Does anyone believe that Saudi Arabia, or the UAE for instance, who frothed about the mouth against the Egyptian protesters up until the last second until Mubarak’s fate was sealed, and who now invade and suppresses the peaceful uprising of another Arab country, cares to have another blooming Arab democracy to contend with? This game, unfortunately, is not over....

The number of current US military involvements?

1) Iraq (full scale - one point)
2) Afghanistan (full scale - one point)
3) Pakistan (full scale - one point)
4) Libya (full scale - one point)
4) Yemen (covert & via KSA - half a point)
5) Iran (covert & via Israel - half a point)
6) Bahrain (covert - via KSA - half a point)
7) Kosovo (occupation - half a point)
8) Somalia (covert & via Ethiopia - half a point)
9) Palestine (covert & via Israel - half a point)

Total "war points": 1+1+1+1+.5+.5+.5+.5+.5+.5 = 7.0 wars

SEVEN SIMULTANEOUS WARS!!!

No empire, no matter how rich, can sustain such a military effort, much less so an already bankrupt empire like the USA and the 2 Jerks of Europe, the UK and France, both Bankrupt with a decrepit military....

Third, it is highly likely that the conflict with Qaddafi will be a long one. Either no side will prevail, or one will and the other will respond with a protracted guerrilla war. Can you guess what this will do to Libya's oil export capabilities? And then, can you guess what a further increase in the price of oil will do to the Russian (and Venezuelan!) economy?

So let us assume that the Kremlin decided that a UN military intervention would be a major mistake for the US Empire. Then, one of two things could have happened: Medvedev has capitulated to the Empire....

Variant #1: Medvedev and Putin have agreed to let Putin run in the next presidential elections. In that case, Medvedev has nothing to loose and a lot to gain ($$$) to let the UNSC resolution pass and then let Putin look noble, patriotic, principled and righteous.

Variant #2: (I like this one even more!) Putin quietly nudges Medvedev into approving the UNSC resolution thereby making him look like a spineless weakling and, as soon as the outrages takes-off in the Russian public opinion, Putin makes a widely reported statement making him look, well, noble, patriotic, principled and righteous (again).

In variant #2 Putin would kill to birds with one stone: damage the USA and damage his likely challenger Medvedev.

Please do not mistake any of the above as an expression of support or admiration for Putin. I believe that it is impossible to do something good by immoral means and Russia's abstention at the UNSC was definitely deeply immoral. But I also know that Putin is not exactly somebody over-burdened with issues of morality, ethics, or honor. In fact, I have always suspected that Putin and the folks backing him had left Eltsin bring Russia to the edge of total collapse only to make themselves appear like "patriotic saviors" once in power (just remember how long Russia had a "pretend war" in Chechnya before getting serious in 2000!).

The West bombs, the Arab League ducks

The Arab dictatorships - which once again have sanctioned an attack on a Muslim country - are scared to death of the backlash from their populations if civilian deaths in Libya from Odyssey Dawn balloon. Their astonishing dithering, and the African Union's outright hostility to the "coalition", explodes the myth that the "international community" is united.

March14th skunks managed to gather about 50 thousand PAID demonstrators this year....Pathetic fall from "grace"....

To the buffoons who call themselves the March14th gathering of stooges, lackeys and puppets of CIA/MOSSAD/DGSE/MI6/BND/CSIS/GID…..

Soufflés, it is said, do not rise twice…., the Lebanese Resistance of Hezbollah will prevail.

In politics, ideas are instrumental to the reproduction of power….but not such gibberish by Saatchi&Saatchi creeps.

Economic gain often prevails over moral principles in the international relations of the Middle East….and the World…

Western governments and academics are complicit in all of this charade for decades, giving the ‘butchers of Tripoli and Damascus’ plus others…..an undeserved respite….and they are still at it today….

The Arms of the Valiant, Nationalist Lebanese Resistance of Hezbollah.

The arms of the Resistance, it has been suggested, should be abandoned as a matter of principle. ‘From now on’, explains Caretaker Prime Minister Saad Hariri, ‘the possession of weapons, decision of war and peace, and defending the country should only be under the state’s control’. Political principles, it would seem, can be slippery. ‘From now on’? Perhaps this disclaimer is meant to ease the turnabout from the Hariri-Ministerial Cabinet Statement issued just over a year ago:

Based on the Cabinet’s responsibility to preserve Lebanon’s sovereignty, its independence, unity and the safety of its land, the government underscores Lebanon’s right through its people, army and resistance to liberate or regain authority of Shebaa Farms, Kfarshouba hills and the occupied part of Ghajar village and defend the country against any aggression.

For the sake of argument, however, let us set aside the dictates of political expediency. Let us look at the reality of what this stance entails.

The crux of the grievance being voiced these days is that the Lebanese Army should have exclusive domain over national defense. The grievance asserts that the Islamic Resistance of Hezbollah has usurped this privilege for its own advancement. The puzzling bit of this accusation, however, is that it is being raised not by the Army—but by various politicians.

In contrast to the opinions of the 14th of March personalities, the Lebanese Army has for over twenty-five years maintained an efficient working relationship with the Resistance. The developments in Lebanon over the past six years have left this harmony stronger than ever. Building on the firm, longstanding commitment exhibited by Generals Michel Aoun and Emile Lahoud, the Lebanese Army remains a proud partner of the Resistance.

When Lebanese Army General Michel Sleiman took on the role of President in 2008, he carried with him the experience to judge the elements required for an adequate national defense. He stated that the success of the Resistance in defeating the occupier was ‘achieved by virtue of the support granted by the Lebanese people, the State, and the Lebanese Army’. Such success notwithstanding, he continued,

the enemy’s persistence in threatening to violate our sovereignty imposes upon us to elaborate a defensive strategy that will safeguard the country concomitantly with a calm dialogue to benefit from the capacities of the Resistance in order to better serve this strategy. Accordingly, we will manage to avoid depreciating the achievements of the Resistance in internal conflicts and subsequently we will safeguard its values and national position.

President Sleiman reiterated his conviction just weeks ago in response to Israeli Defense Minister Ehud Barak’s warning that Israeli military may invade Lebanon yet again. Barak ‘knows full well’, said Sleiman, ‘ that entering Lebanon is no longer a walk in the park. The defense minister’s threat to send his forces into Lebanon again shows premeditated intentions of aggression. The Lebanese people, army and resistance are ready to respond to any such aggression.’

President Sleiman’s confidence in the existing defense framework is shared by the head of the Lebanese Army, General Jean Kahwagi. Addressing his troops last year, he advised them to ‘cling to the will of steadfastness and confrontation and to benefit from all the Lebanese capabilities residing in the capacities of the Army, the people and the Resistance as well as from the presence of the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon and its support’.

Whereas the stance currently adopted by the 14th of March campaigners clearly resents the ability of the Resistance, General Kahwagi openly describes all contributions toward the national defense as honorable:

Let us look with veneration and respect at the souls of our pious martyrs, whether soldiers, citizens or resistance fighters, who fell while defending their country… and drew with their innocent blood the path of dignity and liberation for a country that we can be proud of in front of the whole world since we are its true and loyal protectors.

As the Israeli media grins at the banners being waved in Beirut that read ‘We want only the arms of the Lebanese army’, again it becomes imperative to look at the reality of what this stance entails.

The Lebanese Army remains committed to a cooperative national defense, to a formula of the Army, the people and the Resistance. Just days ago, General Kahwagi reiterated:

The Lebanese Army abides by this formula since it is part of the decisions and guidance of the political authority represented by the Cabinet and it is totally convinced by this formula since experience has proved its primary role in liberating the greater part of south Lebanon and western Bekaa from Israeli enemy occupation in addition to its role in defeating this enemy in the war of July 2006 and in safeguarding Lebanon in these days.

A system of mutual support has evolved. To disallow the arms of the Resistance would be to arbitrarily disregard the consistent evaluation of the Army’s top leaders. This is nonsensical. Such a suggestion would leave Lebanon vulnerable; of this there is no doubt. The only conclusion, then, is that such a suggestion is either gross negligence or willful acceptance of Lebanon’s being engulfed. We have to wonder whether the current swirl of rhetoric over who gets to be commander-of-the-day has more to do with protection or politics. If both the acting Army General and the President, a former Army General, embrace the contributions of the Resistance, then the state of Lebanon is already well in control of its defense.

Brenda Heard is the founder and director of Friends of Lebanon, London.

Saad Hariri’s father Rafik Hariri was a nationalist and he at least..."publicly" supported the Resistance’s right to keep arms until the Israel-Palestinian conflict is resolved – even if Israel return Shebaa Farms and Golan Heights. Saad, a Lebanon-Saudi dual citizen, on the other hand, is an opportunist and thus have no loyalty towards Lebanon. He used the Resistance for over 14 months to maintain his position as prime minister. Every word he uttered in Beirut, Tehran, Damascus and Ankara in support of Resistance against Israel – was clearly a lie.... And he would have been doing the same – had Hezbollah-led Opposition not toppled his government.

Saad CIA HARIRI is calling for disarming the Resistance to pave the way for Israel to re-occupy South Lebanon for water and oil reserves....
