We can learn much from the Israeli government’s decision last week to suspend a special strategic dialog with the United Kingdom because of concerns that Israeli officials could be arrested and indicted with crimes against humanity in the UK. According to a British law that provides for “universal jurisdiction” in such cases, [ exactly as was the case in BELGIUM in 2001-2002..., which saw staggering pressure on Belgium to repeal its law by the USA and Israel..., after they had consumed the horrendous assassination of Mr. Elie HOBEIKA, January 24th 2002 by the infamous White House Murder INC, with Asef SHAWKAT..., ] a suspect of any country can be charged, detained and tried in a British court even if the alleged crimes occurred in a third country and did not include British citizens among the victims. Israel’s Kadima Party leader Tzipi Livni recently canceled a trip to London as did Deputy Prime Minister Dan Meridor last week, because he was advised that he risked being arrested.

Palestinians in the UK in recent years have filed charges against Israeli officials and British courts have issues arrest warrants for some Israeli officials, though none have actually been taken into custody. The important dimension of this is the concern among many Israelis -- justified, in my view -- that Israel is being subjected to a “de-legitimization” campaign. This is exactly what is happening, and it scares Israelis more than anything else in the world.

The one most coveted thing that Israel lacks in the eyes of its Palestinian foes, and other Arab and international critics, is legitimacy and acceptance. It’s one thing if Yemen, Algeria or Somalia do not recognize Israel, but it is another and much more significant thing entirely if the UK government -- the historical midwife of Zionism and the Israeli state -- issues arrest warrants charging Israeli officials with crimes against humanity. Exactly 93 years ago on November 2, the British government issued the Balfour Declaration that pledged support for the creation of “a national home for the Jewish people.” Now, London joins others in the world who seek to hold accountable to the international rule of law those Israeli leaders at the helm of that “Jewish national home” that is the sovereign state of Israel -- sovereign, but still largely unaccepted in its present configuration.

Israel is not particularly worried about its military security, given its known conventional and nuclear capabilities. It has been in a constant state of war with its neighbors for the past 62 years because it has never been fully and formally acknowledged as legitimate by its Arab neighbors. Israel is strong militarily, politically, economically, culturally, and technologically -- but it remains vulnerable and uneasy because it is not accepted in the Middle East as a normal, legitimate country. This is primarily because it has refused to come to terms with the national and territorial rights of the Palestinian people whom it largely dispossessed, ethnically cleansed, displaced and exiled in the process of creating the Jewish-majority state of Israel.

All the Arab states have formally offered to coexist in peace with Israel on the basis of the 2002 Arab peace plan which Israel has steadfastly ignored, so this is not about destroying Israel, as Zionist zealots and other howlers claim. The de-legitimization campaign aims to point out that Israeli official actions are often criminal in nature when Israel uses massive and disproportionate force, siege tactics, collective punishment, mass incarceration, torture, assassinations, genocide in 1982..., colonization, land theft and other such illegal and criminal behavior in its routine dealings with Palestinians and other Arabs....

The reason Israel reacted so vehemently and almost irrationally last year to the Goldstone Commission report on both Israel’s and Hamas’ conduct of the 2008-9 Gaza war was because this represented a frightening new form of formally sanctioned global criticism of Israel’s excessive use of violence, and, more importantly, sought international follow-up to hold Israel and Hamas accountable for their behavior. It’s one thing if Yemen, Algeria or Somalia accuse Israel of war crimes, but it is another thing altogether when the organs of the UN do this through a commission headed by one of the world’s most respected jurists. Israel has predicated its entire foreign policy since its inception on being able to use any force it deems necessary to protect and assert itself. The criticisms it is receiving, and legal moves such as the Goldstone Commission or the British indictments, are much more frightening to Israel than any missiles it might face from its surroundings, because they chip away at the one indispensable element that Israel has always relied on for its security, well-being and Zionist self-assertion: impunity in military actions across the entire Middle East, its colonization of Arab lands, and its structural dispossession and subjugation of the Palestinian people.

This is Israel’s Achilles Heel, which is why this movement to challenge Israeli impunity is so significant, and will continue to grow until it achieves a political resolution that is fair to both Palestinians and Israelis, who can enjoy equal rights in a configuration of mutually satisfying statehood, and affirms rather than tramples on the dictates of the global rule of law. Israel is right to be worried, because its criminal behavior is finally being subjected to formal global scrutiny....

A political deal was in the works for Lebanon that would have prevented the UN tribunal from indicting senior Hezbollah officials for the 2005 Hariri assassination. However, the Saudis helped scuttle the deal being worked out with Syria. Hezbollah political ally, retired General Michel Aoun, leader of the Free Patriotic Movement of Lebanon, decried the Saudi double-cross and Qatar Prime Minister Sheikh Hamad bin Jassem bin Jabr al-Thani, who helped work out the Arab-led peace deal for Lebanon, also expressed alarm that the Lebanese government would collapse as a result of the deal between Washington, Paris, Riyadh, and Tel Aviv....

On April 21, 2009, the Department of Defense announced the theft of 1.5 terabytes of data on the F-35 Joint Strike Fighter, the platform meant give the United States and her allies air superiority for the next 40 years. In a flash, all that was gone, $300 billion dollars of funding down the drain, every system, defense, offense, stealth, everything needed to build one or shoot it down, all gone. Day one, China was accused but it wasn’t China, it wasn’t Iran, it wasn’t Pakistan. The theft left a clear signature, one identical to the data Wikileaks has been receiving, sources inside the Pentagon repeating the actions of Israeli-Soviet spy, Jonathan Pollard. As vital as the F-35 is to America’s defense, Pollard’s triumph on behalf of Soviet Russia and Israel dwarfs the current espionage coup.

Since the 2009 announcement, there has been nothing but silence.

When the theft was announced, Pentagon “damage control” went into action immediately branding the disaster as “unimportant” while scrambling to look for any possible way to “put the toothpaste back into the tube.” What Secretary Gates came up with was a simple denial and to pretend it never happened. With the continual efforts by the Israeli government to secure the release of master spy Jonathan Pollard, a “witch hunt” for another Israeli spy would endanger America’s hopes of winning a settlement between Israel and the Palestinians.

There was no real question, this was another Israeli operation, their “signature” was all over it.

“AN UNPRECEDENTED DISASTER”

What did America lose? 15 years of research and development? That doesn’t come close. Key components of the F-35, from stealth materials, flight and weapons systems, to tens of thousands of man-hours of systems programming are now “out there,” available to any potential rival, military or commercial. At best, it could be considered a $300 billion dollar bank robbery, by American standards, nothing new in today’s financial world.

At worst, nations whose defense capabilities were decades behind the US can now be at par, as the F-35 was estimated to be “air superiority capable” until at least 2040. Data stolen could make production of a comparable aircraft possible in as little as 36 months, particularly with several projects in the offing, Russia/India and in China, each of which are capable of quickly adapting upgraded systems.

The JSF (Joint Strike Fighter) in its three variants, conventional takeoff/landing (CTOL), carrier variant (CV) and short takeoff/vertical landing (STOLV), are scheduled for production through 2026 with estimates of service life until 2060 and beyond. Export versions of the F-35, “detuned” are available for American allies, NATO and Israel. The F-35 delivers more “punch” per dollar than any current “legacy” fighter by a margin of as much as 8 to 1. The economics of “stealing” the F-35 and auctioning it off, system at a time, is tremendous.

Any nation with a substantial defense industry will have immediately gained a decade or more in, not just stealth fighter/bomber design, but hundreds of areas of science applicable to UAV drones, missiles, including nuclear ICBMs (intercontinental ballistic missiles), and smaller systems, not only air defense but helicopters and armour as well. Every advanced technology America has is in the F-35 somewhere.

AIR DEFENSE VULNERABILITY

In March, 1999, on the 4th day of American involvement in the Bosnian war, Serbian forces shot down an F-117 stealth bomber using a Soviet SA 300 air defense system with radar modifications based on data secured through espionage.

Data on the resonant frequencies of the materials and surfaces of the F-117 made it possible for radar to, not only detect a plane previously believed “invisible’ at a range of 13 kilometers, but to successfully destroy one, an embarrassment the US feels the sting of even today.

The stolen data on the F-35 covers more than simple materials but all jamming and other defensive systems and performance characteristics. Air defense systems can now be tuned specifically to find only the F-35 if so required.

THE TRAIL OF THE SNAIL

Wikileaks are called “leaks.” Julian Assange darts from country to country, hotel to TV studio, always ahead of the security forces hunting him down, a veritable “Nordic” bin Laden. Newspapers are peppered with photographs of a boyish face in the uniform of the American army, identified as the potential “leaker.” The 46,000 intelligence/counter-intelligence officers of the Department of Defense, supplemented by the FBI and 16 other agencies and 40 other departments, more “bodies” than currently serve in Afghanistan, we are told, are unable to rein in this “dangerous duo.”

Documents by the hundreds of thousands are leaked, upon qualified examination, showing careful screening with many documents edited and more selected out of series with careful gaps and omissions. A single non-commissioned officer, watched 24 hours a day by tens of thousands of security officers and threatened with life in prison, is an unlikely suspect. However, there has been no mention of any others nor has there been a mention of an investigation of any kind. In fact, there seems to me no attempt whatsoever to curtail these current leaks.

What does this tell us?

WHEN IS A LEAK “HACKING” AND WHEN IS HACKING A “LEAK” AND WHAT IS “ESPIONAGE?”

It was never announced when, exactly, the theft of the F-35 data occurred. The press release was April 21. 2009, long enough after President Bush left office for the blame to evade his administration, one infamous for “leaks” such as the “Scooter” Libby (Liebowitz) “outing” of CIA nuclear proliferation specialist Valerie Plame.

Israeli citizen, Jonathan Pollard, convicted for spying on America and sentenced to life in prison in 1987, is, we believe but can never be sure of, the most successful spy in world history. As with the F-35, the “cover story” is always carefully deceptive as to not panic the public or cause a lack of confidence, perhaps rightly so, in America’s ability to secure secrets. Pollard had two primary targets, our nuclear response capability and NATO’s defense capabilities against the Soviet Union. Both were destroyed by Pollard whose materials were passed through Israel directly to the Soviet Union at the height of the Cold War.

Every weapon design, yes, our stealth aircraft capabilities and our NATO battle plans were among the truckload of papers Pollard sold to Israel, a country where he is considered a national hero. Pollard may have been our last “paper” spy. Everything today is electronic and spies who steal American secrets can be compared to unruly chatroom members or video game enthusiasts.

Despite the “cute” attempt by the Department of Defense and Secretary Gates to refer to espionage as “hacking,” there is nothing either innocent or harmless about it. As all data is formatted for electronic media and secured by firewalls and passwords, all espionage is “hacking.”

The difference between “leaking” and “spying” is semantics. The goal is the same, destruction of the defense capabilities of the United States, except “spying” pays better.

The people responsible for each, particularly when they access the same systems and overcome the same roadblocks, all requiring the same physical access, are one in the same. Those who “leak” perform an identical task to those who spy. Those who leak, those who have leaked appear to be, to any reasonable person, exactly the same people who are spying now and who were supporting Pollard.

The first place we look, before new Russian, Indian, Iranian or Chinese version of the F-35 take flight or our first F-35 meets a fiery end is Israel. No Chinese or Pakistani’s or Iranians have gained by the F-35 espionage “clone” operations styled after “Wikileaks.” Wikileaks has proven one thing, there is a major spy operation in the Pentagon with broad access. It is immune to investigation. Only political power can generate this kind of protection.

Assange is a recipient of information he likely believes is real. Our investigations prove different. The Pentagon leaks were carefully edited, thousands of reports were reconstructed and falsified and hundreds of thousands were removed as inconsistent with an unknown political agenda. This requires full access to Pentagon computer systems, PROMIS software and hundreds of man hours.

It requires, in fact, a broad spy operation inside the Pentagon that enjoys its ability to operate with impunity. Wikileaks carries an Israeli signature, the leaks damn only Israeli enemies, shield Israeli operations and are time to serve Israeli interests. Hundreds of Israeli citizens work in the Pentagon. None of this should be a surprise to anyone.

The F-35 debacle is exactly the same. Where there was some cursory discussion of investigation Wikileaks, the F-35 thefts were, can we say “forgiven?”

On Halloween 2010, the terrorism-military-intelligence complex pulled out of its pre-election bag of tricks the same old "Al-CIAda" treat that George W. Bush, Dick Cheney, and Karl Rove pulled out of their bag of tricks on Halloween 2004....

On Halloween of 2004, the American electorate was subjected to a fake Osama Bin Laden videotape warning America of another impending terrorist attack. In an election that saw malfeasance and rigging at every level, the Bin Laden tape helped provide the cover story that undecided Americans decided to support Bush and Cheney for re-election amid a new terror threat. John Kerry's chances to beat Bush, although seen by polling data as favorable going into the election, were nixed...

The newest Halloween trick of cargo planes flying into the United States with special delivery bombs "from Yemen with love" is just another ploy to instill fear into the American body politic prior to a major mid-term election. The more the Mossad and its CIA friends concoct these phony "Al Qaeda" stories, the more ridiculous they appear. Underwear bombs, Times Square fizzle bombs, shoe bombs, and now UPS and Fedex printer cartridge bombs are all out of the Austin Powers school of campy spy comedies. The only item missing is Maxwell Smart's shoe phone, although that is probably where the terror spinmeisters got the idea for Richard Reid's ill-fated shoe bomb.

Yemen has become the newest neocon "Island of Dr. Moreau" for terrorist training... Iraq, Afghanistan, and Pakistan have surpassed their shelf lives for the neocon imagineers. Somalia never quite made the cut: modern-day pirates became old hat for the Fox News purveyors of bovine excrement masked as news and Somalia is "so nineties" anyway. But Yemen, next door to Saudi Arabia and a nation involved in a civil war and, moreover, the site for the successful "October Surprise" false flag attack on the USS Cole prior to the 2000 election that helped propel Bush and Cheney into office, perfect. Yemen is, once again, ready for its close up, Mr. DeMille. Lights, camera, action: package bombs from Yemen away!

First, the false flag experts, working with a brand new script, needed a source. Enter one Jabir al-Fayfi, former detainee of the United States in Guantanamo Bay. Al-Fayfi was released by the United States to Saudi Arabia where he had undergone "rehabilitation", and upon his release, hurriedly rejoined "Al-CIAda" forces, this time a new franchise, "Al-CIAda" in the Arabian Peninsula" or AQAP, not to be confused with AQIM, "Al-Qaeda in the Islamic Maghreb;" AQM, "Al-Qaeda in Mesopotamia;" or any of the other "Al-CIAda" fast food-like franchises that have sprung up from the Philippines and Indonesia to Somalia and the Sahara....

Al-Fayfi then conveniently surrendered to Saudi authorities on October 16, just prior to the latest terror scare. The Saudis sent a private jet to Sanaa, the Yemeni capital, to retrieve al-Fayfi after he first contacted his Saudi controllers in September. It appears from what Yemeni authorities claim that al-Fayfi was a Saudi double agent who just so happened to know the tracking numbers on the two "bomb" parcels and their contents, printer toner cartridges. Saudi intelligence works closely with the Mossad and CIA. Game, set, match...

But U.S. enemy number one in Yemen, U.S. national Anwar al-Awlaki, had to be dealt with as the new media fantasy story about package bombs was about to hit the wires. According to an October 21 report by ABC News, al-Awlaki had attended a private luncheon at the Pentagon in the months after the inside Job of 9/11. U.S. authorities announced the package bomb plot was the idea of AQAP's master bombmaker Ibrahim Hassan al Asiri/CIA and his "spiritual leader" al-Awlaki/CIA. Obama's chief counter-terrorism adviser John O. Brennan kept the focus on Al-Asiri... Al-Awlaki's post-9/11 luncheon at the neocon-run Pentagon was still fresh in the minds of many....

Two package bombs, intercepted in Dubai and London, were said to be addressed to a Chicago synagogue, identified as Congregation Emanuel, which provides meeting space for the Or Chadash, a gay and lesbian Jewish congregation. Emanuel, gay, hmmm! Interesting, considering Rahm Emanuel is running for mayor of Chicago. Brother Ari Emanuel's writers in Hollywood must be working overtime on these details...

Yemenia Airways says there is a problem with the story. No Chicago-bound packages addressed to Chicago left Yemen on UPS or DHL flights during the 48-hour period the package bombs were said to have been mailed. And get this nice gem: UPS Yemen is located at P.O. Box 1696 on "Al-Qiyada" Street in Sanaa. That's right, Al-Qiyada Street!

One of the bomb parcels, said to contain a printer cartridge, circuit board, wires, and PETN explosive, was reportedly sent by FedEx on a Qatar Airways flight from Sanaa to Doha, Qatar, and then placed on an onward flight to Dubai for shipment to Chicago. The other, also containing a printer cartridge, circuit board, and a coating of white powder was supposedly sent from Cologne, Germany on board a UPS flight to East Midlands Airport in the UK. The East Midlands package tested negative for explosives. Another problem with the story has arisen. British Prime Minister David Cameron was not told of the bomb plot at East Midlands Airport for sixteen hours.

Apparently, President Obama was informed of the plot right away while the British Prime Minister was kept in the dark for almost an entire day. Cameron recently announced sweeping cuts to the defense budget in the UK, a move that infuriated Washington. Cameron was then made to look like a lightweight on defense and counter-terrorism when he was not informed of the parcel bomb plot, or hoax, if you will. Also embarrassed by the parcel bomb plot, or hoax, was British Airways chairman Martin Broughton, who a week earlier bashed U.S. airport security is redundant and irrational...

Ryanair CEO Michael O'Leary criticized new air passenger security measures in the wake of the discovery of explosive-laden printer cartridges, telling CNBC, “We’re going to have a week now where 'securicrats' will emerge from rocks they live on generally." Former U.S. Homeland Security Michael "Skeletor" Chertoff emerged from his Halloween crypt to warn of new terrorist threats to the traveling public. No one mentions that Chertoff is in the business of making money from security consulting, along with his ghoulish partner-in-crime, former CIA and NSA director, Michael "Uncle Fester" Hayden.

U.S. authorities apparently told Yemeni authorities to arrest a 22-year old Yemeni female college student named Hanan al-Samawi, whose identity was stolen by the shipper of the parcels. The actual shipper of the parcels gave the Yemeni shipping agent Ms. Samawi's full name, address, and phone number. Yemeni authorities released Samawi from custody. Someone forged Samawi's signature on the shipping documents. The actual perpetrator of the parcel mailings remains unknown but stealing identities and passports is a well-known tactic of the Mossad...., which has dozens of Israeli Navy Commandos roaming Yemen for years undetected...because they are Jewish of Yemeni origin...

Coming on top of the false flag parcel bombs from Yemen, came news from Athens that a shadowy Gladio-like "anarchist" group called "Conspiracy Nuclei of Fire" had attempted to send parcel bombs to the embassies of Belgium, Netherlands, Switzerland, Russia, and Mexico in Athens, Greece, as well as to French President Nicolas Sarkozy, himself needing a poll boost after forcing through highly unpopular pension reforms in France.

The national security hobgoblins came out to harass us again this Halloween. Time to stuff them all back into Harry Potter's footlocker. Maybe we can keep them locked up there this time for good....

For starters, why don't US intelligence agencies ask the French Foreign Ministry? They swear on their Dior ties Osama is indeed alive - and it is his jihadi master's voice showcased in an audiotape broadcast by al-Jazeera this past Wednesday. In the tape, Osama in so many words warns France that the Eiffel Tower may experience a different kind of wobble one of these days (it has been evacuated twice lately).

Osama - or the ghost passing for Osama - said: "If you want to tyrannize and think that it is your right to ban the free women from wearing the burqa, isn't it our right to expel your occupying forces, your men from our lands by striking them by the neck?" A jittery Paris has taken the analogy extremely seriously.

A room with a view
So now that it's established that Osama seems to be alive and well, having made a successful transition from TDK cassettes to MP3 (unless very circumspect French diplomats are lying; and unless we suppress roars of laughter at the assertion by row after row of US "intelligence analysts" that fake Osama tapes have never been broadcast), comes the question of his humble abode.

So why not turn to the formidable North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) and its arrays of the most sophisticated military hardware in the world - after all they are spectacularly losing a war in Afghanistan itself as we speak? (The legendary Mikhail Gorbachev - who knows a thing or two about losing a war in the Hindu Kush - has just made it plain and simple: "Victory is impossible in Afghanistan. Obama is right to pull the troops out. No matter how difficult it will be.")

Anyway, NATO officials recently leaked to global corporate media that Osama is hiding "somewhere in northeastern Pakistan". Oh really? Would that be Miram Shah, across from Paktika? Would that be Parachinar, across from Nangarhar (where Osama and al-Zawahiri escaped to from Tora Bora in December 2001)? Would that be Chitral, across from Kunar? Would that be on the Karakoram Highway near the Chinese border?

Radio silence. The NATO boys simply don't know - as they don't seem to be very familiar with the intricate mountain geography and tribal rivalries south of the Hindu Kush. Seems like the NATO boys are taking a cue from those rows of so-called US "intelligence analysts" swearing over their air-con think-tank offices that Osama still oversees the "strategic direction" of al-Qaeda from a base “somewhere in Pakistan". Pakistan happens to be twice as big as California. Try finding a stray wacko in the Mojave Desert.

NATO boys also swear that Mullah Omar is commuting between Quetta, Balochistan's capital, and Karachi. Well, he could be taking a night desert bus or a donkey caravan - and still he can't be found. Has anyone searched the VIP rooms at the Serena Hotel in Quetta, perhaps?

Maybe the Pakistani intelligence apparatus knows something. "Not us!" - screams the Pakistani ambassador to the US, Hussain Haqqani, "The reason why this statement is not made officially and publicly by NATO is because they do not have any basis to make that statement."

Well, then certainly Pakistan's Inter-Services Intelligence knows - or some key operatives inside the ISI. And in this case, the Central Intelligence Agency would know. Ambassador Haqqani: "If anybody thinks that Pakistan has any interest in protecting bin Laden they are smoking something they shouldn't be smoking.” Well, apparently no one is smoking Hindu Kush's finest - because Haqqani still swears Washington and NATO have shared "no intelligence" with Pakistan about Osama for a few years now. Would it be because - as in the famous Hollywood dictum - no one knows anything?

The invisible man
In real life, the fact is that a selected few inside the ISI know - as they have followed Osama's every move since the early 1980s in Peshawar. And they are not talking - never will. But for the CIA and the 16-agency alphabet-soup intel community not to know, this speaks volumes about an "intelligence" establishment where 1 million Americans hold top-secret clearances. Those 1 million are absolutely worthless when it comes to gathering on-the-ground intelligence south of the Hindu Kush.

So maybe they should ask the Pakistani Army. General Ashfaq Parvez Kiani - a Pentagon darling - has been to Washington for the third round of what is called a "strategic dialogue" with the Pentagon. It's easy to picture Admiral Mike Mullen, chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, asking Kiani, "If North Waziristan is the epicenter of terrorism, where al-Qaeda is holed up, why don't you go there with all guns blazing and snatch them for us?"

In principle, Kiani will do it - that's what he has promised the Pentagon. But will he? Not really. Kiani will scare away - just for show - the Haqqanis, led by Sirajuddin Haqqani, eldest son of legendary mujahid Jalaluddin Haqqani, while ISI operatives duly tell them to run the other way.

Chapman Base in Khost, Afghanistan, on the other side of North Waziristan, is operated by the CIA. But don't expect Chapman to come out swinging exhibiting "dead or alive" al-Qaeda scalpels. There are indeed some Arab al-Qaeda jihadis sheltered by the Haqqanis - a few dozen at max, but they will have plenty of time to get out of Dodge, thanks again to the services of those ISI agents.

Moreover, Kiani is not suicidal. He knows the Haqqanis and the myriad groups they protect are intimately linked to the Punjabi Taliban. If Kiani launches a major offensive, blowback - in the form of an epidemic of urban suicide bombings rocking Pakistan - is an absolute certainty.

Blowback is on the way anyway - because in this "no one knows anything, and no one's talking" scenario, the only real weapon available for Washington is to drone North Waziristan to death.

Granted, the Barack Obama administration is also desperately trying to find a way out in AfPak. Saudi Arabia is key. Not only Mullah Omar, but also other viscerally anti-occupation Afghan leaders such as Gulbuddin Hekmatyar and Abdul Rasul Sayyaf maintain very close ties with Saudi Arabia. Washington now depends on Saudi Arabia to convince them to sit down and talk.

That's not a given (they all say they're not talking). And even if they did it might - or might not - lead to an endgame (the Pentagon certainly doesn't want one). As for the Pakistani army and intelligence establishment, what they do want is an Afghan satellite government, still part of the "strategic depth" doctrine, and to keep receiving military aid from Washington till perpetuity. Thus playing a double game is key - and that applies most of all to Osama and al-Zawahiri, the golden rationale behind the everlasting "war on terror" - another name for the Pentagon's "long war".

Now you see them - now you don't. So expect a lot of Osama digital audio from now on. He should consider his own podcast on iTunes. There's no real prospect in sight that Osama will honor former US vice president Dick Cheney's correctional facilities anytime soon. He has not left the building, and is now merrily singing Suspicious Minds in a double bill with Elvis.

As to the Wikileak issue, ..... Politics is all about timing. The Wikileak story in the first line by the New Times: Iran, Iran, Iran big surprise. Have we learned anything new from these leaks? Does what we have learned have any value concerning how we deal with the present crisis? If we turn the pages back to the last significant leak in US history, there are valuable lessons to be learned I believe.
The release of the Pentagon Papers ultimately led to Nixon's downfall because it was this leak that lead Nixon to assemble the plumbers that were eventually caught breaking into the DNC office's of Larry O'Brien. The plumbers were assembled under the encouragement of Henry Kissinger who stated that leaks were totally compromising his attempts at diplomacy.
On the day of the leaks, Halderman makes one comment about Kissinger, Nixon did not trust him. A rather fantastic statement when you consider the role Kissinger was playing in the Nixon White House. Imperialism is capitalism at its most virulent stage, astride the world; exploitation on a global scale. It is the creation of a grotesquely unequal world. The constant wars and its astonishing waste of resources and human lives ultimately weakens imperialism. Workers of the world are driven to rebel against it and replace it with socialism, the last stage of capitalism before its revolutionary transformation. Imperialism is the result of capitalism’s inexorable tendency towards globalization.

Capitalism exists to maximize profit, and capitalists do this by stealing as much surplus value as possible from the working class. Eventually, national capitalism develops to a point where production is concentrated in giant monopolies that are controlled by the huge banks that finance them. The finance capitalists who control these banks take state power as well, and they use their economic, political, and military power to take capitalist exploitation to a whole new level. The dominance of finance capital is the key component of imperialism because finance capital begins to look abroad for even greater returns on investment.

Like any other criminal enterprise, capitalism starts out small. The need of a constantly expanding market for its products chases the bourgeoisie [the capitalists—D.P.] over the whole surface of the globe. The cheap prices of its commodities are the heavy artillery with which it batters down all Chinese walls.

Marx and Engels are talking about an earlier stage of capitalism that emphasized the production and export of physical commodities, whereas imperialism focuses on the export of finance capital. Under imperialism, investment capital itself is used to “batter down all Chinese walls” and when this doesn’t work it uses naked political and military aggression to open up a country to capital investment. They want a world in which finance capital based in the powerful developed countries is totally free to move around the globe and make investments that subject workers in the weaker developing countries to forms of super-exploitation even more brutal than “national capitalism. Wikileaks always seems to leak information that's strangely supportive of the DoD's latest objectives, be it destabilizing Pakistan, discrediting insufficiently pro-American Iraqi politicians or implicating Iran in crimes committed by NATO.

You might also mention that a large portion of initial funding was from George Soros's Open Society Institute. Yes, OSI, which was one of the subversive forces behind the Color Revolutions in the post-Soviet republics. Along with the National Endowment for Democracy (NED), and the ever-present Central Intelligence Agency.

Their objective as always is to bring "democracy". Translation: privatization, cartelization, and foreign direct investment (theft) by outside billionaires like, surprise surprise, Monsieur Soros.
Of course, the real objective, as detailed by criminal Zbigniew Brzezinski, was and is the weakening of Russia as a military and economic competitor.

Wikileaks has two other suspicious characters on its advisory board:

1) Wang Dan: winner of the 1998 NED Democracy Award.

2) Xiao Qiang: recipient of MacArthur Fellowship 2001, Executive Director of Human Rights Watch in China, board of advisors for the International Campaign for Tibet.

That is, these gentlemen are involved in the subversion and destabilization of China.

All this spells out a very clear picture.

Wikileaks, despite its hero of the people image, carefully nurtured by the likes of Time magazine, CNN and so on, is very simply a manufactured opposition.
An elaborate limited hangout. And honeytrap for those silly enough to trust it with their whistleblowing.

Bear in mind also that Mr Assange has publicly and vociferously stated that he agrees with the offical 9/11 conspiracy theory, as carefully fabricated by the panel of the 911 Commission, including Thomas Kean.

911 is the keystone of the edifice of lies. And must be protected at all costs.

Yes, the good Julian believes that impressively-bearded men in Afghan caves carried out the attack on Manhattan.

It was not conceived in the RAND, nor the Hudson Institute. Nor did the Project for a New American Century have anything to do with it. Neither was there any funding from the Scaife foundations for these thinktanks. Nor was the Jewish Institute for National Security Affairs involved. It of course has nothing to do with control of Middle Eastern and Central Asian oil routes and chokepoints to hamstring China and Russia.

The National Reconnaissance Office and NSA SIGINT/ELINT were not stood down...., as well as NORAD, SAC, and AMALGAM Virgo..., etc.. Nor was US STRATCOM. And the remote avionics of Northrop Grumman were not deployed in exacting maneuvers. Nor was there any precision demolition of the inexplicably well-insured World Trade Center buildings. Nor did Building Seven magically fall into its own footprint.

And of course the US/EU plutocracy had nothing to do with it.

No-one on the boards of the Peterson Institute for International Economics or Partnership for New York City. Certainly no generous donors to Carnegie Hall or the NYC Museum of Modern Art. And definitely the clientele of Kissinger Associates were as innocent as the driven snow.

So why are they doing this?
Simple. They are about to pull the plug on the American Republic and own what remains of it; while still holding the leash of the most vicious war machine by a huge margin ever in human history.

The terrorists who attacked New York will pay for this crime. And much worse besides.

Cyberspace is a new world and a new domain for combat. The Defense Department is working to understand the threats and opportunities that this new domain poses.

Robert J. Butler, deputy assistant secretary of defense for cyber policy, is one of the officials charged with developing defense capabilities in this crucial domain. And there has been progress.

“For the past 14 months, we have been trying to continue to grow [U.S.] Cyber Command and its capabilities, at the same time looking at strategy and policy,” Butler told reporters at the Defense Writers’ Group here today. “We need to find ways to operate more effectively in cyberspace.”

DOD needs new operating concepts for the new domain. The department has done a lot of work in systems, education and training, “and beyond that, things like active defense and new ways of looking at resiliency and new ways to operate in different environments,” he said.

It comes back to the warfighter, he said. The DOD cyber world needs to focus on ensuring warriors can deploy, get the information they need when they deploy, track supplies and personnel and ensure logistics, he explained. They also must remain in contact with neighboring units and the home front, along with a variety of other tasks, he added.

Defense Department officials have reached out to Great Britain, Australia, Canada and NATO to defend against cyber threats that include nations, rogue states, terrorist groups, criminal gangs and just plain hackers, Butler said.

“The focus within the strategy is to go ahead and build partnerships with like-minded nations in the areas of shared awareness, shared warning and collective response,” he said. “As we move forward, we are trying to build capacity at one level, and at another level – interdependence – you are actually laying a foundation for deterring bad behavior in cyberspace.”

Operations in Afghanistan and Iraq – and the trust those operations have built among the coalition – have helped to speed this international cooperation, Butler said.

The threat constantly changes, and the department has to keep on top of this aspect of cybersecurity, Butler told the group. “Every day, people think of new ways to use the Internet,” he said. “As I look at the advent of social networking sites and what that has done, people have learned to use the Internet to not only communicate in traditional ways, but to build new networks that create both opportunities as well as threats.”

The cyber domain is new, and policy has not caught up to reality. Government and private officials are grappling with basics such as what constitutes a cyber attack and who has responsibility to defend against threats. The White House is leading the effort, Butler said, but it is clear that the Department of Homeland Security has the lead inside the United States. The Defense Department has responsibility to defend military networks, and can assist Homeland Security and other civilian agencies when required and ordered.

Who does what and when they do it is under discussion with other government agencies.

“We have our viewpoints laid out, and we’re trying to determine the best way to move forward,” Butler said. “One of the key things is to agree on the taxonomy. We hear a lot of discussion about cyber war and cyber attacks, and there’s legal terminology with hostile intent, hostile acts. Making sure everyone understands the taxonomy is really important.”

Butler credited the Homeland Security exercise Cyber Storm 3 with helping officials think through responses. The national cyber incident response framework exercise, conducted at the end of August, looked at the way the U.S. government and private industry faced a cyber threat.

“We were able to work out what the threat was, what the appropriate response was, who takes action, how do you determine conditions and postures,” he said.

The exercise included federal and state entities, the private sector and international partners. “It was a huge learning experience for the department,” he said.

But no one can stand still, Butler said.

“We recognize as we face this evolving threat that more will be required,” he said. “The question is what kind of hybrid models, what kind of rules, what kind of things do we need to counter a threat that continues to advance? We’ve got congressional support. We got a blueprint, and we’re working on it. -- ###

WASHINGTON - New information on the Central Intelligence Agency's campaign of drone strikes in northwest Pakistan directly contradicts the image the Barack Obama administration and the CIA have sought to establish in the news media of a program based on highly accurate targeting that is effective in disrupting al-CIAda's terrorist plots against the United States.

A new report on civilian casualties in the war in Pakistan has revealed direct evidence that a house was targeted for a drone attack merely because it had been visited by a group of Taliban soldiers.

The report came shortly after publication of the results of a survey of opinion within the Federally Administered Tribal Areas (FATA) of Pakistan showing overwhelming popular opposition to the drone strikes and majority support for suicide attacks on US forces under some circumstances.

Meanwhile, data on targeting of the drone strikes in Pakistan indicate that they have now become primarily an adjunct of the US war in Afghanistan, targeting almost entirely militant groups involved in the Afghan insurgency rather than al-CIAda officials involved in plotting global terrorism.

The new report published by the Campaign for Innocent Victims in Conflict (CIVIC) last week offers the first glimpse of the drone strikes based on actual interviews with civilian victims of the strikes.

In an interview with a researcher for CIVIC, a civilian victim of a drone strike in North Waziristan carried out under the Obama administration recounted how his home had been visited by Taliban troops asking for lunch. He said he had agreed out of fear of refusing them.

The very next day, he recalled, the house was destroyed by a missile from a drone, killing his only son.

The CIVIC researcher, Christopher Rogers, investigated nine of the 139 drone strikes carried out since the beginning of 2009 and found that a total of 30 civilians had been killed in those strikes, including 14 women and children.

If that average rate of 3.33 civilian casualties for each drone bombing is typical of all the strikes since the rules for the strikes were loosened in early 2008, it would suggest that roughly 460 civilians have been killed in the drone campaign during that period.
The total number of deaths from the drone war in Pakistan since early 2008 is unknown, but has been estimated by Peter Bergen and Katherine Tiedemann of the New America Foundation at between 1,109 and 1,734.

Only 66 leading officials in al-Qaeda or other anti-US groups have been killed in the bombings. Reports on the bombings have listed the vast majority of the victims as "militants," without further explanation.

The victim's account of a drone attack based on the flimsiest rationale is consistent with the revelation in New York Times reporter David Sanger's book The Inheritance that the CIA was given much greater freedom in early 2008 to hit targets that might well involve killing innocent civilians.

The original rationale of the drone campaign was to "decapitate" al-Qaeda by targeting a list of high-ranking al-Qaeda officials. The rules of engagement required firm evidence that there were no civilians at the location who would be killed by the strike.

But in January 2008 the CIA persuaded then president George W Bush to approve a set of "permissions" proposed by the CIA that same month which allowed the agency to target locations rather than identified al-Qaeda leaders if those locations were linked to a "signature" - a pattern of behavior on the part of al-CIAda officials that had been observed over time.

That meant the CIA could now bomb a motorcade or a house if it was believed to be linked to al-CIAda , without identifying any particular individual target.

A high-ranking Bush administration national-security official told Sanger that Bush later authorized even further widening of the power of the CIA's operations directorate to make life or death decisions based on inferences rather than hard evidence. The official acknowledged that giving the CIA so much latitude was "risky", because "you can make more mistakes - you can hit the wrong house, or misidentify the motorcade".

The extraordinary power ceded to the CIA operations directorate under the program provoked serious concerns in the intelligence community, according to one former intelligence official. It allowed that directorate to collect the intelligence on potential targets in the FATA, interpret its own intelligence and then make lethal decisions based on that interpretation - all without any outside check on the judgments it was making, even from CIA's own directorate of intelligence.

Officials from other intelligence agencies have sought repeatedly to learn more about how the operations directorate was making targeting decisions but were rebuffed, according to the source.

Some national security officials, including mid-level officials involved in the drone program itself, have warned in the past that the drone strikes have increased anti-Americanism and boosted recruitment for the Pakistani Taliban and al-CIAda . New support for that conclusion has now come from the results of a survey of opinion on the strikes in the FATA published by the New American Foundation and Terror Free Tomorrow.

The survey shows that 76% of the 1,000 FATA residents surveyed opposed drone strikes and that nearly half of those surveyed believed they killed mostly civilians.

Sixty percent of those surveyed believed that suicide bombings against the US military are "often or sometimes justified".

Meanwhile, data on the targeting of drone strikes make it clear that the program, which the Obama administration and the CIA have justified as effective in disrupting al-Qaeda terrorism, is now focused on areas where Afghan and Pakistani militants are engaged in the war in Afghanistan.

Most al-CIAda leaders and the Pakistani Taliban leader Baitullah Mehsud, who has been closely allied with al-CIAda against the Pakistani government, have operated in South Waziristan.

North Waziristan is where the Haqqani network provides safe havens to Pashtun insurgents fighting US-NATO troops in Afghanistan. It is also where Hafiz Gul Bahadur, leader of a Pakistani Taliban faction who has called for supporting the Afghan insurgency rather than jihad against the Pakistani government, operates.

Last year, just over half the drone strikes were still carried out in South Waziristan. But in 2010, 90% of the 86 drone strikes carried out thus far have been in North Waziristan, according to data collected by Bill Roggio and Alexander Mayer and published on the web site of the Long War Journal, which supports the drone campaign.

The dramatic shift in targeting came after al-CIAda officials were reported to have fled from South Waziristan to Karachi and other major cities.

Meanwhile, the Obama administration was privately acknowledging that the war would be a failure unless the Pakistani military changed its policy of giving the Haqqani network a safe haven in North Waziristan.

When asked whether the drone campaign was now primarily about the war in Afghanistan rather than al-Qaeda terrorism, Peter Bergin of the New America Foundation's Counterterrorism Strategy Initiative told Inter Press Service: "I think that's a reasonable conclusion."

Bergin has defended the drone campaign in the past as "the only game in town" in combating terrorism by al-Qaeda.

This year's winner was CBS newsman Bob Schieffer. When the names of other past recipients of the award who were present at the October 15 event were announced, Thomas's applause was greater than that for Washington Post columnists William Raspberry and David Broder.

Detroit - Wayne State University will no longer offer an award named in honor of one of its most famous alumni, former White House Press Corps member Helen Thomas, officials announced today. The Helen Thomas Spirit of Diversity award will no longer be handed out because of controversial statements Thomas, an Arab American, made during a conference in Dearborn on Thursday that resurrected a controversy from earlier this year.

What did Helen say to get her alma mater and the puppet media to turn their back on her?

"I stand by it. I told the truth," Thomas said. "I paid a price but it's worth it to speak the truth."

Asked by The Detroit Free Press how she'd respond to people who say she's anti-Semitic, Thomas responded: "I'd say I'm a Semite. What are you talking about?"

"I can call a president of the United States anything in the book, but I can't touch Israel, which has Jewish-only roads in the West Bank," Thomas said. "No American would tolerate that -- white-only roads."

"Congress, the White House and Hollywood, Wall Street are owned by the Zionists. No question, in my opinion," she said. "They put their money where their mouth is. ... We're being pushed into a wrong direction in every way."

In the interview, she said the Iraq war was "built on lies. ... No weapons of mass destruction. No ties to al-Qaida. What is this? Why are we killing those people? And why are we there?"

Thomas talked about the problems that Palestinians face. "Arabs are not terrorists," she said.

Rather, she pointed to former Israeli leader Menachem Begin's activities during Israel's campaign for statehood. "They bragged, in his first book, about creating the modus operandi for terrorists," she said.

Thomas also said she's proud of her Arab roots, but stressed that she's fully American.

"I never felt I was an Arab American. I felt I was an American," she said.

Meanwhile, Obama takes a trip to Afghanistan to rally the pawns, the temporarily smiling dupes of his war ... some of whom will die in vain or be maimed physically or psychologically for the treachery of politicians and profiteers.
